Friends of the Alberta Jubilee Auditoria Society *Call for Submissions*

The *Friends of the Alberta Jubilee Auditoria Society *is pleased to announce a call for submissions: if you are an artist interested in showing your work in the Kaasa Gallery (lower level, Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium) or the Alcove Gallery (First Balcony Alcove, Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium) please complete a submission according to the guidelines below.
The Alberta Foundation for the Arts curates an extensive collection of world renowned art by established Alberta artists throughout the Auditoria. The Society is pleased to provide this opportunity for emerging artists / artists’ groups as well.
These exhibitions are open to the public pre-show, during intermission, during functions and community programs, and by appointment Monday – Friday 9:00am – 4:00pm. The audience potential is great – upwards of 250,000 per building per year. Interested artists should be prepared to participate in a minimum of one community engagement presentation per three-month installation.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES- VISUAL ARTS
For the Purpose of Displaying Art at the Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium or the Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium. Exhibition space is provided in the Alcove Gallery located on 1st Balcony of our Calgary facility or in the Kaasa Gallery, located in our lower level at the Edmonton facility.

Submission MUST include:
Proposed Exhibition title
Artist Name
Lender’s Name (if different from artist)
Address, Telephone, Email
Digital images of not more than 10 pieces for evaluation
CURRICULUM VITAE (maximum 2 pages) summarizing relevant training, artistic accomplishments and public presentations of work.
ARTIST’S STATEMENT/BIOGRAPHY (maximum one page) including:
Description of work
Media used (any special techniques?)
Who and What are Your Artistic Influences?
PRICE LIST — FOR INSURANCE PURPOSES ONLY. This exhibition will be to display the work, not an opportunity for sales
Availability for exhibition – please list any dates you know that the work is NOT available for display at the Auditorium. Include a preference for a location.
Availability for involvement in the Jubilee Auditorium Community Engagement and Education Programs
Submissions are evaluated by a Jury Selection Committee chaired by the Senior Manager, Community Engagement of the
Friends of the Alberta Jubilee Auditoria Society

. The committee makes recommendations based on the quality of presentation of the application including all supporting documentation. Unless the artist has made a specific request, the submissions will be selected for the most appropriate space – transportation costs for artwork will be covered by the Society.

The Jury Selection Committee and the contents of proposals submitted to the Society remain confidential. The digital images chosen should represent the pieces being proposed for display in the building though need not be limited to said pieces.

If your work is chosen, expect the Society to provide: Financial and logistical support for the transport of the work if the exhibition is displayed in a gallery more than 50km from artist’s home/ studio.

Support for the hanging, and appropriate wall mounting and/or display units.

Labels to include the piece title, the Artist’s name and the piece creation date – information to be provided by the Artist.Insurance to cover art to a $50,000 maximum value. This will not include protection against inherent vice.Security– a Commissionaire stationed around the clock at the Stage Door in both facilities.ADMINISTRATION

The work presented in a proposal must be that of the submitting artist. If selected for an exhibition, the Artist will be required to sign a contract, obliging them, among other things, to participate in the delivery, installation and removal of the exhibition, on a predetermined date and time, with the assistance of a Society staff member. An artist fee of $200 will be paid after the removal of the art from the building.
