About The Session:

Having a strong artist statement is essential – and is often a requirement when applying for shows, grants, residencies, and other opportunities. What makes a strong artist statement and how can you write one? In this session, we’ll look at what you should include in an artist statement, some examples of effective artist statements, and a process for working toward an effective statement about your own work and art practice.

About The Presenter:

Ann Mansolino is a visual artist whose work explores the relationship between the internal self and external ideas of place through photography, writing, and handmade books. She is interested in the ways in which landscape can help us understand ourselves – as metaphors for our internal experience, as well as expressions of our more literal relationship to nature and the larger world we inhabit.  Ann has taught photography at colleges and universities in Canada, the United States, and Singapore. Her photographic and book arts work has been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions internationally.

Chris W. Carson, Executive Director, CARFAC Alberta will host and moderate this session on Writing Your Artist Statement with Ann Mansolino. After Ann’s presentation, there will be a Q+A where you can pose questions and share your experiences. Join us and learn more about how to construct an artist statement that can work for you!
