Piano Instructors – Program Specialist

The City Arts Centre is currently looking for enthusiastic Fine Arts Instructors to teach our child and adult piano courses. As an
instructor, you must be confident and competent in your field and wish to share your skills. You will be required to plan, prepare
and teach lessons to a variety of students with varying skill levels. If you have a passion and skill for music, this is the job for you!

Responsibilities include:

● Develop lesson plans that are skill level appropriate over a 10-week course
● Create and deliver performing arts activities such as piano for age-appropriate activities
● Prepare classroom setting and supplies for each day or weekly class
● Facilitate and engage students of all ages in creative arts-based programs
● Actively engage in the safety, well-being, and development of students
● Maintain the highest level of health and safety standards at City Arts Centre and its outreach facilities
● Communicate regularly with coordinators and facility staff
● Attend seasonal in-services, mock emergency sessions and other training as necessary
● Perform other related duties as required

Qualifications:

● Minimum 18 years of age
● Completion of Grade 12
● Post-secondary education from a recognized institution in music or an RCM Certified Piano Teacher is an asset
● Experience delivering programs in piano is required
● Demonstrated knowledge of piano
● Experience teaching piano to children or adults is required
● Ability to communicate effectively and professionally in a classroom setting
● Ability to interact and engage with students, in addition to maintaining a safe environment
● Experience teaching piano in a group classroom setting would be an asset
● Values align to the Cultural Commitments
● Valid First Aid and CPR Level C is a requirement of this position
● Hire is dependent upon a Police Information Check including Vulnerable Sector check satisfactory to the City of Edmonton

Hours of Work : 0-5 hours per week. Evening and weekend work is required.
Salary : $26.250 – $36.750 (Hourly)
