The City of Lethbridge Public Art Committee is seeking a professional artist who will, through a process of community engagement, design and fabricate a permanent multifaceted installation which will tell the story of sport in Lethbridge while providing for the display of Lethbridge Sports Hall of Fame information and memorabilia. Display items may include: video information about honoured members, two dimensional visual displays including banners, photographs, posters, and written materials and three dimensional artifacts ranging in size from small objects to large items. The selected artist will be responsible for developing or overseeing the development of appropriate media (digital) content and will be required to recommend an ongoing strategy for programming of all of the displays. The selected artist will be required to work with members of the LSHOF, the facility design team, facility operators, the public art project coordinator and other stakeholders as part of the project.
The site for the display installation is in the well-traversed, spacious transitional hallways between the two phases of ATB Centre (located on both levels of the facility). The installation will be restricted to the walls in each of these locations. The display installation will support connectivity in the complex, will augment the facility architecture and the physical environment and should express the full breadth of sport experience from leisure to professional.
Budget
Total all-inclusive budget for the project is $85,000 plus GST
Eligibility
The competition is open to qualified professional Canadian visual artists as defined by the Canada Council for the Arts (http://canadacouncil.ca). This professional context excludes the school environment, and so a student attending college or in an undergraduate degree program at a university may not enter this competition.
