Arlene Wasynychuk was also a long time supporter and member of both the Alberta Society of Artists and Visual Arts Alberta – CARFAC.

(The following is from the Art Gallery of Alberta’s website…). The Art Gallery of Alberta is very sad to announce the loss of a close friend and inspiring Alberta artist. Arlene Claudia Wasylynchuk passed away peacefully on September 27, 2012, surrounded by her loving family.

We will never forget her kindness, generosity, strength, bravery, creativity and her spirit for life and adventure. Her spirit will live on in the people she touched, in her art which is lasting legacy of her creativity, and in nature, which surrounds us and inspired her work. Arlene was a great friend to the AGA; she worked tirelessly to support the Gallery though her involvement with Art on the Block for the past 5 years.

This summer, the AGA was also very proud to announce that Arlene was awarded the inaugural Eldon & Anne Foote Edmonton Visual Arts Prize for her installation, Saltus Illuminati, which was presented at the AGA from October 15, 2011–January 15, 2012. Arlene will be greatly missed by both the AGA and the local art community, and we extend our deepest sympathies to her family and friends.
