art gallery of alberta logoSHOWCASE: small spaces/big ideas

Artists and creators from Edmonton and surrounding areas, you are invited to submit your work for SHOWCASE: small spaces/big ideas.

SHOWCASE: small spaces/big ideas is a community art project that highlights the work of local artists and creators. Taking inspiration from the building’s own architectural zinc tiles, the SHOWCASE wall was designed by local design firm Oliver Apt.

It is a constellation of 26 mini-exhibition spaces available for 1-month bookings by anyone of any age, experience or background who wants to show their artwork at the AGA. Each month brings a different exhibition and a new look at the diversity of Alberta creativity.

Deadline for Submission: the beginning of each month the exhibit runs (see table)

Case Specifications

Each case is a plexiglass-fronted trapezoid with parallel top and bottom, 4 15/16” deep, with a metal backing plate.

Booking

SHOWCASE bookings are accepted online only on a quarterly basis.

Members of the public can choose to book up to three cases for one month.

Each SHOWCASE mini-gallery booking has a $21 non-refundable administrative fee.

Submissions

Submissions may in no way damage or alter the surfaces of the SHOWCASE. Tiny, rare earth magnets are available to hang works, or 3M Command Strips will be used for heavier pieces. When you book your case, please provide any mounting/display considerations.

Only submissions made of non-perishable materials will be accepted. We are unable to power electronics.

The AGA retains the right to refuse any submission that is deemed primarily commercial in its intent, offensive and/or dangerous.

Once your booking is confirmed, artwork submissions will only be accepted in-person, up to ten days prior to the first Monday of the month deadline (see table).

All submissions must be delivered in person to the Guest Services on the main floor of the AGA during public gallery hours.

SHOWCASE will feature monthly public exhibitions starting March 18, 2016.
